ShowBits is the tool we wished we'd had at the agency.

Before ShowBits, our founder Philip Hohn co-founded and ran Granny, a social media agency that grew to four offices and 70 people. Every workflow in this product comes from that work.

From agency floor to product

In 2016 I co-founded Granny in Berlin. What started as a small social media agency grew into a group with offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Los Angeles and up to 70 people. I was responsible for operations, the pitch teams and key accounts.

We worked for the companies whose content everyone wants to share first: streaming services like Netflix, Disney and Prime Video, studios like Warner Bros., broadcasters like RTL and Joyn, and audio platforms like Spotify, Audible and Podimo. The brief was nearly always the same. A new series, film, show or podcast is about to launch, and the social content has to be ready the moment it goes live: for every market, every format and every channel, without a single frame leaking early.

For years that meant manual work. Editors scrubbed through rough cuts looking for the moments worth posting. Subtitles were typed, checked and re-timed for every aspect ratio. Every version went through rounds of client approval. It worked because good people made it work, but it never scaled the way the content did.

ShowBits is that workflow rebuilt as software: highlight detection instead of scrubbing, captions in seconds instead of hours, approvals built in, and security that treats unreleased episodes the way studios expect. For audio platforms it does the same with sound, turning podcast episodes into captioned clips that stop the scroll.

The briefs behind the product

Streaming services, studios, broadcasters and audio platforms have very different content, but the same pressure: the social assets must be ready at launch.

Streaming and film

  • Netflix
  • Disney
  • Prime Video
  • Warner Bros.

Launches are global and simultaneous. Social assets have to exist for every market and format before release, and nothing can leak before the embargo lifts.

TV and broadcast

  • RTL
  • Joyn

Linear schedules and streaming premieres run side by side. Clips have to follow the broadcast plan and be live on every show channel the minute the episode airs.

Audio and podcasts

  • Spotify
  • Audible
  • Podimo

Audio has no picture. To work in a social feed, every episode needs captions, a waveform and a visual frame that makes people stop and listen.

What the agency years put into ShowBits

Each feature answers a problem we ran into, again and again, on real client work.

Embargo is non-negotiable

Studios share episodes weeks before release. ShowBits keeps them locked until launch, logs every access and can run entirely in your own data center.

The best moment is rarely the obvious one

Finding the passage worth posting used to take an editor hours. Highlight detection scores every scene for hook and stand-alone clarity, so the team starts with a shortlist.

Approval is where the time goes

Every clip went through several rounds of feedback. ShowBits puts review, comments and sign-off in one place, with the people who actually decide.

Every market needs its own cut

The same scene became a different clip in Germany, the Netherlands and the US. Captions, copy and formats are generated per channel and language.

Podcasts need pictures

Audio-first shows need a visual hook to travel on social. ShowBits turns audio episodes into captioned audiograms, ready for every feed.

Many brands, one team

An agency produces for many brands in parallel. Brand kits and white label keep each client's look intact, without separate tools for every account.
